Are our efforts having an effect?

Just want to reach out there to see what everyone else has been seeing. Over the past two weeks, we have definitely seen a reduction in the number of break-ins and received only a few reports of glass piles or windowless vehicles. We can expect a rise when the police coverage eases up a bit, but we would love to see what other people are seeing in the meantime.

I see that there was a new pile on the smashmap, dated today. I hope that the media coverage can help prioritize this in the eyes of the police, not just the window smashing, which is bad enough, but also muggings, and Smokey and Cracky.

Walking my dogs this morning around 8 am I noticed 4 more cars with broken windows- one on Water Street (across from the brick wall) and 3 others on Front towards 99 Gold. I thought this guy was caught? Maybe there's another perp?

Years ago, my wife & I used to live in the Concord Village complex on Adams St. Every now and then, as we headed to the High St subway stop, we'd see a series of cars broken into. This would go on for a few days, stop for a period of time, then restart. It got to the point where we joked that whoever was doing it must be in/out of jail again. I wonder if it was Squarehead back then. Anyway, I'd be more impressed if they ever figure out who stole the High St escalator (Adams St side) when the station was being renovated about 10 years ago.

Window Smash efforts were effective for about a week. Today, Sunday, August 31st yielded something like 7-10 window smashes including my car on Front St. In my opinion, stationing cops in the neighborhood just delays any of the trouble. There needs to be more of a real deterrent....

My car window was smashed in last week as well, just on Front Street between Jay and Bridge.
If you have a dog or go for walks in the neighborhood, you'll see there's seemingly an increase in shattered glass on the sidewalks. It's pretty constant.
